Who is Kylie Kidd

My name is Kylie Kidd and my passion is telling people’s stories through videos, pictures and audio. I am a student at the University of North Florida studying Communication with a concentration in journalism and international studies.

I have been travelling my whole life and have been to six different countries and most of the states. I am originally from Wilmington, Delaware. My most rewarding journalistic travel experience was the mission trip I took to Marsh Harbor in the Bahamas after hurricane Dorian. I not only helped the islanders clean up but interviewed survivors. I put together a video package, stand up and written article to tell their stories.

Hopefully one day I can put together my loves of helping people, storytelling, and traveling. It would be my dream to become an international journalist.

I have a goal-driven work ethic and complete tasks to the best of my ability. I went to Delaware Military Academy for high school and this challenged me to take on leadership positions and oversee my peers.

Military school also taught me how to work with large groups of people effectively. I also learned how to act and think on my feet in tough situations. All of this is important when working in the media.

My core values are strength, kindness and resilience. Strength is important to me because I’ve been through some very tough situations in my life. A hard situation can be easier or harder depending on how you handle it.

Kindness is the most important to me because I've always been taught to treat people with respect no matter who it is. Kindness can change the lives of people around you. If you aren’t resilient with what you want in life you won’t get anywhere very fast. You must show people that you are ready to step up and tackle problems. These values all tie into my strong work ethic. I live by them every day.
